Greetings fellow beer enthusiast,

As many of you know, we lost Greg Noonan last October after his brief battle with cancer. His sudden loss caught us all off guard and has left a big hole in the brewing community both at large and here in Vermont. Not only was Greg a master brewer and author, but he was one of the most genuine people we have ever met. Always willing to stop what he was doing to lend his expertise to whatever brewing question any of us may have had, and always with a smile. He truly loved this stuff and lived for it.

Greg was the driving force behind getting the Green Mountain Mashers Homebrewers Club up and running. He provided us with direction, inspiration, motivation and libation from the very beginning. Quite frankly, without Greg there would be no Green Mountain Mashers. We owe him a debt of thanks and gratitude for all that he has done for us over the years. We miss him terribly yet we are all better off for having known him.

This year we are changing the name of our yearly homebrew competition to the First Annual Greg Noonan Memorial Homebrew Competition in honor of our mentor and friend. Please join us in remembering Greg in a manner which we are certain he would appreciate: brewing and judging quality made homebrew beer.

We hope to see you and/or your beer on May 1st.
